WLRN Public Radio & Television is a privately owned company headquartered in the US. Founded in 1948, it employs approximately 50 individuals. The company specializes in Broadcast Media Production and Distribution.
On July 6, 2026, members of a WLRN bargaining unit unanimously approved their first four-year union contract with South Florida Public Media Group, the Miami-based station’s licensee. The agreement, effective July 1, covers reporters, hosts, anchors, and producers, according to the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Previously, on June 15, WLRN News and the Miami Herald won first place at the annual Esserman-Knight Journalism Awards for their year-long joint investigation into the Brightline passenger rail system. This followed South Florida Public Media Group's appointment of Tom Hudson as Interim Chief Executive Officer of WLRN on May 18, after the public media group settled a legal dispute with the Miami-Dade County School Board.
