WLRN Public Radio & Television is a privately owned broadcast media company founded in 1948. As of 2023, it employs approximately 50 people and is headquartered in the United States. The company produces and distributes radio and television programming.
WLRN-FM launched a fundraising drive in response to losing over $3 million in federal and state funding. On June 2024, South Florida Public Media Group, which includes WLRN, filed an asset purchase agreement with the FCC to acquire WFLM, a West Palm Beach commercial station, for $6.45 million. However, the Miami-Dade County School Board is suing South Florida Public Media Group over this acquisition. WLRN also partnered with PolitiFact to fact-check Florida politicians; this followed Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo questioning the whooping cough vaccine's effectiveness. WLRN's Morning Edition reported on a Riviera Beach initiative combating food insecurity through community gardening, and also covered the guilty plea of a former Jackson Health System fundraising executive for defrauding $4.3 million. WLRN-TV is currently streaming Agatha Christie's Marple.
