WVIA was honored with five Excellence in Broadcasting Awards by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters on February 17, recognized across categories including documentary, public affairs, feature storytelling, marketing, and public service campaigns. Previously, on February 10, the organization received a $10,000 grant from the Robert H. Spitz Foundation, administered by the Scranton Area Community Foundation, to expand its environmental journalism, focusing on data centers and environmental issues in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. Earlier, on January 28, WVIA reported on the state Public Utility Commission's approval of settlements affecting electric and natural gas customers, noting an average 6.8 percent residential electric bill increase for Citizens’ Electric Company of Lewisburg customers in Union County. This followed the January 13 return of WVIA’s flagship public affairs program, "Keystone Edition," for a new season beginning January 19, featuring a refreshed format designed to deepen community conversation on timely issues facing Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.
