Yoshimoto, also known as Yoshimoto Broad Entertainment, is a privately owned company headquartered in Japan. Founded in 1912, employing approximately 90 individuals, the company functions as an entertainment and media production entity.
On April 23, 2026, Banijay Entertainment announced the acquisition of global format rights to “Stop the Train” from Unfold Production and expanded its partnership with Japan’s Yoshimoto and Kansai TV by adding “The Laughing Throne.” This expansion, announced at an event in London on April 21-22, strengthens Banijay's international third-party portfolio and accelerates multi-territory adaptation strategies across adventure and comedy entertainment. The deal grants Banijay the lead for adaptations of "The Laughing Throne" across its 23 territories, with Yoshimoto and Kansai TV retaining distribution elsewhere, building on previous successful collaborations like "You Laugh You Lose." Earlier, on February 23, 2026, Banijay Entertainment partnered with Yoshimoto, creator of "LOL: Last One Laughing," to secure the global format rights for the long-running comedic challenge spectacle "YOU LAUGH YOU LOSE," with Banijay set to lead adaptations across its 23 territories.
