AMD, also known as Advanced Micro Devices, is a Publicly Owned company headquartered in the US. Founded in 1969, it employs approximately 25,200 individuals and specializes in semiconductor manufacturing. The company reported $34.6B in revenue as of 2025. It provides high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies.
Global technology companies, including those in the semiconductor space, recently pledged billions for artificial intelligence projects in India during a major summit on February 22, supporting data centers, infrastructure, and innovation. Earlier on the same day, AMD halted software updates for its Ryzen Z1 Extreme APUs, impacting handheld consoles such as the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, over two and a half years after their initial launch. This decision came as support for AMD’s upcoming Zen 6 processors was integrated into the Linux 7.0 kernel, a development aimed at ensuring a smooth product launch. The Ryzen AM5 platform is expected to feature these new Zen 6 processors, potentially offering up to 24 cores. Unofficial sources suggest the Ryzen 11000 series, if that name is finalized, will be compatible with the existing AM5 socket and could launch as early as 2024 or potentially in 2027.
