América Móvil's Brazilian subsidiary closed the acquisition of 72.83% of Desktop S.A.’s capital stock on October 1, 2026, expanding its footprint in Brazil's broadband and fixed-line segment. Previously, on September 30, the company's Colombian unit Claro opened its mobile network to Móvil Éxito, the telecom brand of retailer Grupo Éxito, marking its first move as host to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the country. América Móvil was also among the telecom operators showing strong revenue momentum in Q2 2026, contributing to a 2.5% year-over-year global telecom revenue increase, driven by factors such as 5G, broadband, and enterprise connectivity. Earlier in September, América Móvil’s US$44.5 billion network investment since 2020 was highlighted as underpinning the expansion of connectivity and contributing to Mexico's technology sector momentum. This investment, totaling MX$865.42 billion (US$44.5 billion) between 2020 and 2025, expanded its cellular sites, fiber-optic network, and fixed-line infrastructure. The company reported MX$48.1 billion (US$2.84 billion) in capital investment during the first half of 2026, with its second-quarter 2026 results showing a 9.2% increase in net income.
