Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government on May 14, 2026, to implement the BharatNet programme in the state and strengthen rural digital connectivity. This followed the Centre's approval on May 13, 2026, of ₹2432 crore in financial support for the Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP) rollout in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier on May 13, 2026, DBN, the Department of Telecommunications, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, APBIL, BSNL, and APSFL signed the comprehensive agreement for the ABP. This partnership leverages the approved ₹2432 crore to cover 13,426 Gram Panchayats and deliver on-demand connectivity to 3,942 villages, aiming to strengthen and upgrade rural telecom infrastructure. The initiative to enhance broadband connectivity in rural Andhra Pradesh and provide over five lakh fibre connections was initially announced on May 12, 2026, as DBN partnered with the Andhra Pradesh government for the BharatNet expansion, with the Central government providing the financial backing.
