Asian News International, also known as ANI, is a privately owned company headquartered in India. Founded in 1971, the company operates with an approximate employee count of 450. Functioning as an Indian news agency, it specializes in offering syndicated multimedia news feeds to news bureaus both within India and internationally.
The Delhi High Court reserved judgment on Asian News International's (ANI) interim relief plea in its copyright suit against OpenAI on March 28, 2026, after Justice Amit Bansal heard extensive submissions from parties, amici curiae, and intervenors. This legal action follows India's proposal on December 10, 2025, for a hybrid model to govern the use of copyrighted material in training generative artificial intelligence systems. This proposed two-pronged approach would grant AI developers the right to use such material while mandating fair compensation to copyright holders, referencing the "landmark Asian News International v." case in its context. Separately, on December 5, 2025, the National Media Group (NMG) began cooperation with ANI, a leading Indian information agency, and TV9 Network through an agreement signed in New Delhi, an initiative expected to change the media landscape in Russia and India.
