This followed the association's listing of event dates for October 1-9, 2026, on August 30, 2026. Previously, on August 29, 2026, BAI signed a tripartite agreement with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Sports Authority of Assam (SAA) to establish a swimming National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) at the Amingaon Sports Complex in Guwahati, aiming to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote sporting excellence. Earlier, on August 24, 2026, the Assam Badminton Association thanked BAI and the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for selecting Guwahati as the host city for the 2028 India Open, an event described as a joint partnership with BAI.
