Basketball England, a privately owned organization founded in 1936, is the governing body for basketball in England. With approximately 180 employees based in the UK, the organization's primary activity is the management and organization of spectator sports. This includes overseeing the English Basketball League for both men and women, and managing the English national basketball teams. As of 2023, Basketball England continues to operate in this capacity.
Basketball England retained two non-executive directors, Matt Newby and Egemen Onen, on the board. Newby, elected in January 2002, contributed to talent coaching and competition structure decisions. On April 30, 2025, the Collegiate 3x3 Tournament will take place at the National Basketball Performance Centre Manchester. This event features 16-19 year-old further education students competing for Academy 3x3 Finals qualification. A partnership with PlayHQ was formed to enhance member services using technology to boost participation. Finally, Basketball England confirmed the first 20 clubs meeting new Level 1 Club Standards, designed to promote good practices and align with Sport England's expectations and the Child Protection in Sport Unit framework.
