BBC Studios, a privately owned British content company, was established in April 2018. A commercial subsidiary of the BBC, it resulted from the merger of the BBC's commercial production and international distribution divisions (BBC Worldwide). Headquartered in the UK, it employs approximately 5,170 people and its primary business is the provision of streaming services. Notable subsidiaries include UKTV and BritBox.
