The Big 12 Conference, a privately owned organization founded in 1996 and headquartered in the United States, is a collegiate athletic conference. As of 2023, it employs approximately 120 people and comprises 14 universities: Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, West Virginia, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston (the latter four joining in July 2023). The conference's primary activity is the organization and governance of intercollegiate sports, sponsoring 23 sports for both men and women, including basketball, football, and various other track and field events.
