Bitwig, a privately owned German company headquartered in Berlin, was founded in 2009. Its primary product is Bitwig Studio, an audio software application. As of 2023, the company employs approximately 30 people and generates annual revenue of less than $10 million.
On February 20, 2025, Bitwig released Bitwig Studio 5.3. This update included 25 new drum instruments, a step sequencing note device, the ability to record entire sessions or resample on the fly, Windows ARM support, and internal improvements for faster project opening and audio I/O configuration. Bitwig also offers resources for users working with multiple DAWs, providing solutions for transferring projects between Bitwig Studio and other digital audio workstations. Additionally, Bitwig clarified that its Certified Partners are independent entities and Bitwig is not responsible for their actions. A live session from Superbooth 2024 showcased ten techniques for using Bitwig Studio with Eurorack modular synthesizers.
