News Summary:

On October 1, 2026, Bologna FC sealed an agreement with BolognaFiere for the construction of a new 35,000-seat stadium in the city’s business district, a project expected to cost €300 million. This development occurred as the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) submitted dossiers for 14 possible Euro 2032 venues to UEFA. Previously, on September 30, the club received the go-ahead for the new stadium, with a crucial 2031 deadline to ensure its operational status should it be selected as a Euro 2032 host. Earlier in September, Bologna entered a critical phase for the stadium and Euro 2032 plans, requiring the submission of project documentation, including a credible €300 million financing plan, to the FIGC by September 30. On August 17, Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announced the definitive acquisition of player Jhon Janer Lucumí Bonilla from Bologna FC 1909 for €19.5 million, payable over three financial years, with ancillary costs up to €0.6 million and potential bonuses up to €2 million. This followed the August 13 transfer of Roberto Piccoli to Bologna from Fiorentina on a paid loan, including an €18 million option to buy that would become an obligation if Bologna avoided relegation in the subsequent matchday; Fiorentina also retained a 10% sell-on clause.
