Canada West, a privately owned organization founded in 1972, is the governing body for university sports in Western Canada. As of 2023, it employs approximately 20 people and is headquartered in Canada. Its primary function is the oversight and administration of intercollegiate athletic competitions.
On March 5, 2025, Canada West announced its second Rugby 7s Dream Team of the 2025 season. A weekend in March 2025 saw Canada West teams win all three U SPORTS championships; the Saskatchewan Huskies won the women's basketball championship and the Victoria Vikes won the men's basketball championship. On an unspecified date, the Winnipeg Wesmen men’s volleyball team won the Canada West championship for the first time, defeating the Alberta Golden Bears 3-0. Dr. Manideep Gopishetty, a physician-entrepreneur, graduated from University Canada West with an MBA.
