U Sports, a privately owned Canadian organization founded in 1962, is the primary governing body for university sports in Canada. As of 2023, it employs approximately 150 people and oversees athletic competition at the majority of Canadian universities offering degree programs. Its main function is the administration and regulation of intercollegiate spectator sports.
Eight right-handed female elite ice hockey players participated in a study; players were recruited from the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, the Canadian Women’s National Ice Hockey Team, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, or U Sports. On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Canada West announced the election of Dr. Geoff Payne, UNBC’s President and Vice-Chancellor, to the U SPORTS Board of Directors as the conference's presidential representative for a two-year term beginning that month. Separately, U Sports named Gage Grassick and Taylor Elgersma the 2024-25 U Sports Athletes of the Year on Monday; the Lois and Doug Mitchell Award winners were announced at an awards program. Three former GW Graham standout football players, who now play U Sports football, will participate in the Athletes Lab’s Youth Football Camp in Chilliwack next weekend, beginning May 23, 2025.
