The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), a privately owned organization founded in 1956, is the governing body for professional basketball in China. Headquartered in China, the CBA employs approximately 10 people as of 2023. Its primary activity is the organization and oversight of professional basketball leagues and related spectator sports.
The Zhejiang Guangsha Lions won their first CBA title on May 20, 2025, defeating the Beijing Ducks 4-2 in the best-of-seven finals. This victory concluded a historic championship run for the Lions, who will now compete in the Basketball Champions League Asia. Separately, the CBA may expand the midseason CBA Cup to include lower-division teams and reinstate promotion and relegation. On June 20, 2025, Yang Hansen, a Qingdao Eagles player, was drafted 16th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2025 NBA Draft.
