The racetrack, along with the Oliver Lewis Foundation, also unveiled a bronze statue honoring Oliver Lewis, the jockey who rode Aristides to victory in the inaugural 1875 Kentucky Derby. The Lewis family donated the statue. Earlier, on June 23, Sovereignty, Baeza, and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner White Abarrio settled in at Churchill Downs and conducted their final preparations on the track. This follows a June 19 donation of $2,500 from Derby City Gaming Hotel to Wesley House Community Services, supporting the organization’s Annual Back-to-School Bash.
