Cinema XXI, a publicly owned Indonesian company founded in 1987, operates a chain of movie theaters across Indonesia. Employing approximately 1400 people, its primary business is the presentation of live cinematic events.
Cinema XXI opened a new cinema in Pematangsiantar City, North Sumatra on July 31, 2025, located in the Suzuya Merdeka Mall Siantar shopping center. In the first quarter of 2025, the company reported revenue of IDR 929.2 billion, with 63 percent from ticket sales and 33 percent from food and beverage sales. April 2025 saw a new monthly record of over 14 million admissions, exceeding the previous record. During the first half of 2025, Cinema XXI operated 259 cinemas with 1360 screens across 66 cities/districts, generating revenue of IDR 2.8 trillion and a net profit of IDR 324 billion. A partnership with Mawatu Resort will bring a new Cinema XXI to Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, with a planned opening in mid-2026.
