VisualOn and Cires21 released an updated joint whitepaper at IBC 2026 on September 9, 2026, demonstrating average-bitrate savings of up to 76 percent and improvements in visual quality. This outcome resulted from integrating the VisualOn Optimizer, an AI-enhanced content-adaptive encoding solution, into Cires21's transcoding pipeline. Previously, during NAB 2026 in April, VisualOn and Cires21 jointly released a whitepaper showcasing up to 19-point VMAF gains and improvements in video quality of experience (QoE) through the integration of the VisualOn Optimizer into Cires21's live transcoding pipeline. This research benchmarked H.264, HEVC, and AV1 codecs across major hardware platforms.
