City of Hope plans to lay off 73 employees at its Irwindale, California facility, with these changes becoming effective in November. This follows a regulatory notice filed with the state on September 23, confirming the layoffs are set to take effect November 24 and will predominantly affect employees in business support and operations functions across all levels, including management. Nisha Morris, chief marketing and communications officer at City of Hope, issued a statement detailing the impacted roles. Earlier, on September 30, an international study led by the City of Hope cancer center revealed that the investigational Panxeon blood test could detect early-stage pancreatic cancer and advanced precancerous changes with 87 percent sensitivity. Researchers at City of Hope Duarte, California, led the development of this blood test, aiming to enable detection when the disease is more treatable and potentially curable.
