The Cleveland Guardians are a privately owned American professional baseball team founded in 1896 and based in Cleveland, Ohio. Competing in Major League Baseball's American League Central Division, they have played their home games at Progressive Field since 1994. Established as a Major League franchise in 1901, the Guardians have achieved 11 Central Division titles, six American League pennants, and two World Series championships (1920 and 1948). Their last World Series victory in 1948 represents the longest active championship drought among current MLB teams.
