Cogna, a privately owned company headquartered in Brazil, was founded in 1966 and employs approximately 10,000 individuals. The company operates undergraduate and postgraduate institutions, also offering e-learning programs and courses.
Cogna Educação reported its second quarter 2026 results on August 13, 2026, posting net revenue of R$ 1960.7 million, an increase of 17.8% year-over-year, alongside an 87.8% surge in free cash flow to R$ 251.9 million. The company attributed this performance to a diversification strategy, which delivered strong revenue growth and improved cash generation despite ongoing challenges in its higher education segment. For the second quarter, the company also reported sales of BRL 2465.03 million, up from BRL 2112.04 million in the prior year. Earlier, on August 8, Morgan Stanley upgraded Cogna to a "Buy" rating. This follows news on May 25 that Cogna became subject to two arbitration proceedings over a lease agreement for a property used by its subsidiary, Anhanguera Educacional. The dispute, tied to defaulted real estate receivables certificates, involves the education group, investors, and the property owner.
