Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) is a state-owned telecommunications company founded in Ecuador in 2008. Employing approximately 1540 people, CNT provides a range of telecommunication services to the Ecuadorian market, including telephone, broadband internet, and pay television.
Anatel, in partnership with the IDB and a consulting consortium, presented initial results for an ESG Climate Seal for Brazil's telecommunications sector on an unspecified date. The seal will recognize companies' sustainable practices. On an unspecified date, Anatel approved Starlink's request to expand its satellite system by 7500 satellites, extending its validity until 2027, while also issuing a regulatory alert regarding potential challenges. Anatel also overturned a 1995 rule differentiating internet service providers and telecommunications companies for tax purposes on an unspecified date, eliminating a tax exemption for ISPs. Finally, on an unspecified date, Anatel approved a regulatory overhaul to simplify and modernize the telecommunications sector, creating a new General Regulation for Telecommunications Services (RGST) and addressing emerging technologies.
