Cruz Azul F.C., a privately owned entity headquartered in Mexico, was founded in 1966 and operates with approximately 270 employees. The club specializes in the sale of sports tickets, merchandise, and sponsorships. Known formally as Club de Futbol Cruz Azul S.A. de C.V., and commonly referred to as Cruz Azul, the organization is a professional football club based in Mexico City. It competes in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football. Originally founded in 1927 in Jasso, Hidalgo, as Club Deportivo, Social y Cultural Cruz Azul, A.C., the club relocated to Mexico City in 1971. Its name was changed to Cruz Azul Fútbol Club, A.C. in 2012, and subsequently to its current name in 2022. Since 2026, the team has played its home matches at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla due to renovations at the Estadio Azteca.
