The Disneyland Resort is a privately owned entertainment resort located in Anaheim, California, United States. It is the original Disney theme park, opened on July 17, 1955, and is the only one designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. The resort covers an area of 85 hectares and employs approximately 8,270 people. It consists of two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, as well as three hotels and a shopping, dining, and entertainment district known as Downtown Disney. The resort is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company through its Parks, Experiences and Products division.
