Employing approximately 210 people, the company's offerings include high-definition multi-channel audio solutions for mobile, home, and industrial applications. These solutions encompass digital surround sound formats used across individual, commercial, and theatrical settings, and also include services such as transcoding, encoding, and Blu-ray authoring. In 2024, DTS's revenue was below $250 million; it is a subsidiary of Xperi.
HD Radio officially launched in September 2005. On an unspecified date, DTS, a subsidiary of Xperi Inc., and IMAX announced that Sony Pictures Entertainment plans to expand its IMAX Enhanced content encoded in DTS:X immersive sound. This expansion will add hundreds of titles to the existing catalog of Sony Pictures films available in this format during their home entertainment windows. This announcement was made multiple times, with at least four separate press releases issued by DTS, IMAX, and Xperi Inc.
