Eater is a privately-owned American company with approximately 180 employees as of 2023. Headquartered in the US, it operates as a streaming service and a website providing food-related content, including news and dining guides. Eater is a subsidiary of Vox Media.
Vox Media laid off approximately a dozen employees, including Eater Chicago's Midwest regional editor Ashok Selvam, earlier this month. Last week, Vox Media announced further layoffs affecting 15 employees across Eater, Punch, and Thrillest. Gambino’s NY Subs plans to open a new location north of Union Square. Separate from these events, the siblings behind Old Westminster Winery opened a new vineyard and farm in Montgomery County after nearly a decade of development.
