The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), established in 2004, is an independent data protection authority for the European Union. Headquartered in Belgium, the EDPS employs approximately 150 people as of 2023. Its primary function is the development and implementation of public policy related to data protection within the EU institutions and bodies.
