The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), founded in 1981, is a privately owned intergovernmental organization headquartered in Saudi Arabia. Employing approximately 280 people, the GCC's primary function is the operation of public policy offices. It is a political and economic union composed of six Arab states: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The GCC Ministers of Labour Committee held its 11th meeting in Kuwait recently, where QNB received an award for supporting national employment and Qatari talent participation in the private sector. On Tuesday, Qatar also participated in the 11th meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Labour of the GCC countries, represented by Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman al-Thani. Separately, Qatar participated in the fourth meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity held on Monday in Kuwait, with Eng Abdulrahman bin Ali al-Farahid al-Malki leading the delegation. Malaysia's 2025 ASEAN chairmanship is expected to foster halal collaboration between Southeast Asia and GCC countries, according to a MATRADE official. The GCC also plans to develop a sustainable blue economy using its marine resources, facilitated by regional scientific cooperation and coastal initiatives, according to marine conservationist engineer Ahmed Nabil.
