Egyptian Radio and Television Union, also known as ERTU, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Egypt. Established in 1945, this tier 1 media tech buyer functions as the public broadcaster of Egypt. Its primary product is broadcast television and radio. Formerly known as Egyptian State Broadcasting (ESU), ERTU is operated by the Egyptian government.
On August 18, 2026, Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom met with National Media Authority (NMA) Chairperson Ahmed El-Mesallamy to discuss joint efforts aimed at resolving financial entanglements and settling longstanding debts owed by the authority to the National Investment Bank (NIB). Previously, on August 17, the National Media Authority was named ‘National Partner’ of the Arab Media Summit 2026, an event scheduled for September under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. Earlier, on July 30, a UAE delegation led by Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Authority, met with TikTok representatives in London to explore partnerships for developing innovative solutions that support a safer digital ecosystem for users. The discussions underscored the UAE leadership's priority of protecting children and young people in the digital space.
