This inquiry resulted in a 12-month disqualification for Costa, potentially impacting his planned return to Australian training ranks. Previously, on May 13, 2026, ERA Stewards concluded an inquiry into licensed trainer Majed Al Jahoori, following notification of cobalt's presence in a pre-race urine sample from DHAFER AW (AE), taken at Sharjah Racecourse on January 25, 2026. Earlier, on February 19, 2026, ERA Stewards concluded an inquiry into licensed trainer Eric Lemartinel after desmethyl venlafaxine was detected in a post-race urine sample from MAANAR (FR) at Abu Dhabi Racecourse on November 14, 2025. This followed an inquiry concluded on February 18, 2026, into licensed trainer Mohammed Al Shamsi, who faced findings of methamphetamine in post-race urine samples from HAZEM AL WATHBA (AE) and RAHEEBAH (FR), taken at Abu Dhabi Racecourse in November 2025.
