News Summary:

Energie Wasser Bern (EWB) will purchase biomethane from Axpo Biomasse AG's upgraded fermentation plant in Aarberg, effective February 9, 2026. The plant recently replaced its combined heat and power unit with a modern biogas processing plant, which produces biomethane from regional green waste. Previously, on January 14, 2026, the company purchased the Monbijou Area, where its headquarters is situated. Earlier, on January 5, 2026, a system for sharing locally produced solar power, known as LEG, launched, allowing photovoltaic system owners to better utilize their generated power and enabling tenants to receive solar power directly from their immediate neighborhood. This followed a fire that broke out on December 2, 2025, at 2:00 AM in the waste bunker of the Forsthaus Energy Center, operated by EWB; the fire affected the entire width of the delivery area.
