The European Weightlifting Federation (EWF), founded in 1969, is a state-owned, non-profit organization headquartered in Turkey. As of 2023, it employs approximately 40 people. The EWF's primary activity is the organization and governance of weightlifting as a spectator sport, encompassing 49 affiliated national federations.
The European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) held an official meeting in Istanbul on March 18, 2025, with the Türkiye Olympic Committee and the Türkiye Weightlifting Federation, along with representatives from the European Olympic Committees. The EWF announced that weightlifting will be included in the European Games program for the first time. EWF President Antonio Conflitti worked to achieve this inclusion since early 2022. The EWF also announced the EWF Youth Training Camp will be held in Madrid, Spain from July 13 to 20, 2025. Furthermore, the EWF reported that Armenia won the team standings in both the men's and women's categories at the European Weightlifting Championships. Finally, the EWF recognized Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar as the best in Europe for 2024.
