European Weightlifting Federation, also known as EWF, is a state-owned organization headquartered in Turkey. Founded in 1969, it employs approximately 40 individuals. The organization focuses on athletics and multi-discipline sports. Functioning as a permanent non-profit organization, it is composed of 49 National Federations affiliated with it.
The European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) announced on July 11, 2026, that its 2026 Youth Training Camp will take place from July 12 to 19 at the Federal Office of Sport (BASPO) National Sports Centre in Macolin, Switzerland, an event for which invitations were extended to all EWF National Federations on April 14. Earlier, on April 22, Day 5 of the 2026 EWF European Championships in Batumi saw Finland’s Janette Ylisoini secure the women’s 77 kg title and Moldova’s Marin Robu win the men’s 88 kg category. On March 16, the Armenian Weightlifting Federation reported that it hosted three EWF Technical Committee members from February 12 to 15 to conduct an EWF Technical Official Seminar in Yerevan, held in conjunction with the 2026 Armenian National Weightlifting Championship. The EWF also signed an agreement on February 5 with the EOC EU Office of Sports, the Brussels-based representation of the European Olympic Committees, which promotes the interests of the Olympic Movement and organized sport at the European Union level.
