The European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) signed an agreement on February 5, 2026, with the EOC EU Office of Sports, known as "The House of European Sport," which represents the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Brussels to European institutions and promotes the Olympic Movement's interests at the EU level. Previously, on December 30, 2025, the EWF Executive Board held its last official meeting for the year, deciding to cancel the 2026 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships, originally scheduled for Poland, and confirming a new youth calendar. This followed the IWF elections on May 23, 2025, where Mohammed Jalood secured a second term as IWF President in a unanimous vote, and Europe gained four Executive Board seats. Earlier, on May 12, 2025, the EWF announced it would host its 2025 Youth Training Camp in Madrid, Spain, from July 13 to 20, continuing its initiative to develop and promote weightlifting among younger generations.
