Founded in 1970 through a merger of local clubs VV DOS, USV Elinkwijk, and Velox, the organization has approximately 400 employees and reported $40.7M in revenue as of 2025. Functioning as a tier 2 media tech buyer, FC Utrecht specializes in sports tickets, merchandise, and sponsorship. The company operates as a Dutch professional football club based in Utrecht, competing in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, and playing its home matches at the Stadion Galgenwaard. The club has won three national cup tournaments in 1985, 2003, and 2004, also winning the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2004 as the first club outside the traditional Dutch Big Three. FC Utrecht is the only club outside the Big Three that has never suffered relegation from the top-flight Eredivisie.
