Five Star Production

Five Star Production Co., Ltd., a privately owned company headquartered in Thailand, was founded in 1973. This independent film production and distribution company specializes in content rights. Operating as a long-running and influential fixture of Thai cinema, it is currently led by Aphiradee, Kiatkamon, and Kiattikul Iamphungphorn. The company was instrumental in spearheading the "Thai New Wave" cinematic movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s, bringing Thai cinema to global film festivals. Its production *Tears of the Black Tiger* was selected for the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, and *Monrak Transistor* was selected for the Directors' Fortnight category in 2002. Over its multi-decade history, Five Star Production has amassed a library of approximately 250 feature films created by dozens of domestic directors, including Wisit Sasanatieng and Pen-Ek Ratanaruang.
