Gigaclear announced on April 9, 2026, that it completed its recapitalisation, bolstering its balance sheet with a robust capital structure and a fully funded business plan. This process included £80 million in new capital from incoming shareholders, which had been secured in December 2025. Earlier on April 9, lenders assumed control of the rural fibre altnet after it faced challenges with nearly £1 billion in debt. Gigaclear provides service across 26 UK counties, with 600,000 premises ready for service and approximately 160,000 customers. Previously, on April 4, Gigaclear appointed Jon Hurry as chief commercial officer, aiming to accelerate its next phase of growth. Hurry brings over 25 years of experience in telecoms and infrastructure, having held senior roles at BT Openreach and G.Network.
