GlobeNet, also known as Vtal, a privately owned company headquartered in the United States, was founded in 1998 and operates with approximately 110 employees, specializing in connectivity and distribution services. The company functions as a telecommunications and edge datacenter services provider, serving customers in Argentina, Brazil, Bermuda, Colombia, the United States, and Venezuela.
V.tal, in partnership with mobility infrastructure company Motiva, will progressively roll out 4G and 5G internet service in the tunnels and stations of Sao Paulo subway's yellow Line 4 starting in July, with five stations to be equipped by the end of 2026. This follows news on May 25 that V.tal formally registered to participate in the auction for Oi Solucoes, the corporate connectivity and IT division of Brazilian operator Oi. The company joined established telecom players TIM, Vivo, Claro, and Sercomtel in the bidding, having previously been authorized by Rio de Janeiro courts to access the data room for the sale process. Also on May 25, V.tal reported a net loss of BRL 524 million for the first quarter of 2026, compared to a net profit of BRL 38 million in Q1 2025. Net revenue decreased from BRL 1.8 billion to BRL 1.5 billion, and EBITDA fell from BRL 0.9 million to BRL 0.3 million, resulting in an EBITDA margin drop from 48 percent to 20 percent, while Capex remained stable at BRL 0.4 million. Earlier, on May 18, V.tal secured a US$115 million loan from Citibank and approved the construction of a new 6MW IT capacity data center in Pará state, expanding its data center subsidiary Tecto.
