The International Judo Federation (IJF), a privately owned organization founded in July 1951, is the global governing body for the sport of judo. Headquartered in Hungary, the IJF employs approximately 230 people and oversees the sport's international competitions and regulations. Currently, it comprises 200 national federations representing countries across all continents. Its primary activity is the organization and management of judo as a spectator sport.
The IBSA Judo European Championships opened in Georgia on September 19th, 2025, featuring seven reigning world champions. Individual contests took place on September 19th and 20th, culminating in a team competition on September 21st. The 135th IJF Academy course, held in Tokyo, included a visit from Her Imperial Highness Princess Tomohito of Mikasa. British Judo collaborates with UK Anti-Doping and the International Judo Federation to uphold the sport's integrity.
