Keflavik Airport, also known as KEF, is a publicly owned entity headquartered in Iceland. Founded in 1943, the company operates with approximately 20 employees. Functioning as the largest airport in Iceland and the country's main hub for international transportation, it is located approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) west of the town of Keflavík, Reykjanesbær, and 50 km (30 mi) southwest of the capital Reykjavík. The airport features two runways, each measuring approximately 3,050 m (10,010 ft), and serves as the primary gateway for most international journeys to or from Iceland, ranking as the 5th busiest airport in the Nordic countries.
