Live Nation Entertainment, a privately owned company headquartered in US, was founded in 2005. Employing approximately 17,320 individuals, the company operates as an entertainment provider specializing in live events and ticketing. Its business operations span major divisions including Ticketmaster, Concerts, Media & Sponsorship, and Artist Nation.
On April 3, 2026, U.S. Senators accused Ticketmaster of engaging in a "bait and switch" scheme, alleging the company raised various ticket fees to offset losses following a regulatory crackdown on hidden charges. This accusation followed revelations that Ticketmaster, while complying with new transparency rules, may have circumvented their intent to maintain high consumer costs. Previously, on April 2, Senators had rebuked Ticketmaster for raising fees after the crackdown, a development reported by The Guardian. On that same day, Ticketmaster stopped charging an order processing fee that was typically shared with venues, a move that followed regulations banning surprise fees at checkout. The Federal Trade Commission had begun requiring Ticketmaster in May of the previous year to disclose all concert ticket fees upfront, a practice known as all-in pricing. Earlier, on March 29, Goldman Sachs issued a cautious analyst rating update for Live Nation Entertainment Inc. This follows a March 28 warning from experts that Ontario's proposed plan to cap ticket resales at face value could drive more tickets to third-party markets, potentially making it harder for buyers.
