Luminate, a privately owned US-based company founded in 2020, provides video data and analytics for the entertainment industry. Employing approximately 140 people, the company's revenue in 2023 was less than $25 million. Its offerings focus on delivering information and insights across the music, film, and television sectors.
On March 15, 2024, Luminate CEO Rob Jonas presented at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas. The presentation, titled "Top Entertainment Trends for 2024: What the Data Says," covered music streaming changes, the increase of foreign content in music and film & TV, and updated the Global Track Streaming Pyramid previously discussed in his 2023 SXSW presentation. Later that week, on March 19, 2024, Luminate received recognition as one of Fast Company's World's Most Innovative Companies of 2024. Separately, Luminate provided a $200,000 sponsorship to Rest of World, a global nonprofit publication, on an unspecified date. This funding will support Rest of World's reporting on AI technology's impact on elections in 2024, including the creation of an AI election tracker and a live event.
