The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), founded in 1964, is Malawi's state-owned national broadcaster. Headquartered in Malawi, MBC's primary function is the provision of television and radio broadcasting services to the country.
The Communication Workers Union of Malawi (COWUMA) accused the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) of failing to take action against Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) for defaulting on pension remittances, despite complaints from employees. On July 3, 2025, the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA)-Malawi Chapter and Media Council of Malawi (MCM) met with MBC management to discuss alleged biased reporting ahead of the September 16 General Election. The meeting followed earlier concerns about the broadcaster's impartiality.
