Mid-American Conference, privately owned and headquartered in the US, was founded in 1946. With approximately 50 employees, the organization reported $13.9M in revenue as of 2023. It operates primarily in spectator sports, functioning as an NCAA Division I, 12-member conference that sponsors 23 championships and is one of ten members of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). On June 23, 2026, Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher announced the appointment of Scott Goldschmidt as Assistant Commissioner for Football Operations, effective July 1, 2026. Goldschmidt brings 10 years of experience from the University of Michigan football program, most recently as Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operations. Previously, on June 9, 2026, Golfweek recognized Kent State's Veronika Kedronova with Second Team All-American honors and Eastern Michigan's Janae Leovao with Third Team All-American accolades for the 2025-26 women's golf season. Kedronova, who led Kent State to the 2026 MAC Women's Golf Championship Title, secured Individual Medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 203 (-7), marking the lowest shot total and second-lowest score to par in the championship's history. This follows remarks made by Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher on June 7, 2026, addressing Power Four conferences.
