MLSE, also known as Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership, is a privately owned entity headquartered in Canada. Founded in 1998, the company employs approximately 2420 individuals. Its main product is broadcast television and radio, functioning as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The company operates as a provider of sports and entertainment experiences, serving as the parent company of the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), Toronto Marlies (AHL), Raptors 905 (NBAGL), TFC II (USL), and Raptors Uprising Gaming Club, the Toronto Raptors Esports franchise in the NBA 2K League.
Rogers' second-quarter results, which reported total revenue of $5.615 billion, an 8% increase year-over-year, were significantly influenced by the company's agreement to acquire the remaining 25% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE). Previously, on July 15, 2026, Rogers Communications began seeking a junior partner for MLSE, anticipating full control of the sports and entertainment conglomerate. This development followed the July 8, 2026, news that Davies Goodmans advised on the $3 billion pro sports deal, through which Rogers will gain 100% control of MLSE, the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and various sporting venues. Rogers already owns Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays and the Sportsnet broadcasting network. Earlier, on July 7, 2026, Rogers Communications announced its agreement to purchase the remaining 25% ownership stake in MLSE from Kilmer Sports for C$4.35 billion, which will increase Rogers’ ownership to 100%. This acquisition was noted as part of Rogers' strategy to consolidate its various sports assets, with a potential plan to sell a minority stake in its combined sports media and entertainment holdings in the following year.
