The Motion Picture Association (MPA) is a privately owned industry association founded in 1922. Headquartered in the US and employing approximately 370 people, the MPA represents major film and television studios in the production and distribution of movies, videos, and sound. Its member companies include Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Netflix Incorporated, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Universal City Studios LLC, and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
The Motion Picture Association issued a statement on September 12, 2025, expressing its intention to collaborate with John Squires following his Senate confirmation as the new USPTO Director to protect intellectual property rights crucial for the film, television, and streaming industries. On the same day, the Association announced that tickets for the Trilith Studios Summit, scheduled for a later date, would go on sale September 18, 2025, with an early bird price of $29 for the first 100 tickets. Additionally, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and Warner Bros. Discovery filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the Chinese AI company MiniMax. Finally, the Association's anti-piracy organization, ACE, expanded its global reach through new partnerships with Viu in Hong Kong and True Visions in Thailand to combat entertainment piracy.
