The Musée d'Orsay plans an exhibition in Tokyo in 2026, titled “The Joy of Living in the Present,” which will bring works from its collection to Ueno. This special exhibition celebrates the anniversary of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, giving art enthusiasts an opportunity to view French masterpieces. Previously, on December 3, 2025, Édouard Papet, Commissioner of the 'Paul Troubetzkoy. Sculptor (1866-1938)' exhibition, confirmed that it marked the first dedicated exhibition to the Italian sculptor since the 1930s. Troubetzkoy's father was a Russian diplomat in Florence, then Italy's capital. Earlier, on March 13, 2025, the museum presented an exhibition focused on "The Construction of the Suez Canal," featuring photographs by Louis Robert Cuvier. This exhibit highlighted one of the 19th century's most significant civil engineering achievements, carried out from 1859 to 1869 under the direction of Ferdinand de Lesseps.
