On March 31, Sophia Salziger announced her doctoral research focusing on the possibility of claiming non-material damages when personal data is leaked, citing the Odido hack as an example to find effective remedies for affected individuals. Earlier, on March 10, reports surfaced that Odido had forwarded sensitive data from customers' routers to the American AI company Lifemote for years without clearly disclosing this in its privacy statement, a practice the telecom company reportedly stopped after inquiries from newspaper Telegraaf. This followed news from March 9 that more University of Amsterdam (UvA) staff were affected by the Odido hack than previously thought, after a random check of 1500 @uva.nl email addresses revealed 82 appeared in the leaked Odido database.
