OL Reign, a privately owned spectator sports company headquartered in the US, was founded in 2012 as a charter member of the National Women's Soccer League (initially named Seattle Reign FC). As of 2023, the organization employs approximately 60 people. The team's name changed to OL Reign in 2020.
On July 2024, forward Mia Fishel made her first NWSL start for the Reign against Racing Louisville FC at Lumen Field. Midfielder Jess Fishlock scored the game-winning goal, assisted by forward Maddie Dahlien. However, the match was abandoned following a medical emergency involving Racing Louisville midfielder Savannah DeMelo, who received on-field medical care and was transported to a local hospital. DeMelo was reported to be stable and alert. The Reign's coach made three lineup changes for this match compared to their previous game against the Washington Spirit: Midfielder Sally Menti and forwards Mia Fishel and Nérilia Mondésir started, while Jess Fishlock, Emeri Adames, and Maddie Dahlien were on the bench. A later announcement indicated that the game would be rescheduled. In a separate game, Mikayla Cluff replaced Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic on the bench.
