Omroep ZWART

Omroep ZWART, also known as Vereniging Omroep ZWART, is a State Owned entity headquartered in the Netherlands. Founded in 2020, with approximately 60 employees, the company reported $7.7M in revenue as of 2024. Operating as a national public broadcasting association, the enterprise was established to confront and redress the structural underrepresentation of marginalized communities and minority demographics within traditional Dutch media. It achieved statutory recognition as an aspiring broadcaster (aspirant-omroep) within the Dutch public broadcasting system (NPO), initiating its first television transmissions in May 2022. The association focuses on millennial and Gen-Z demographic engagement and has aligned to integrate into a unified broadcasting house with network BNNVARA. Its intellectual property portfolio and content catalog include the late-night music and cultural showcase Podium ZWART, the cultural talk show KULT, the social-commentary investigative docuseries Sexotisch and De Afhaalchinees, and the historical documentary series Ondergrondse Sporen.
